The Sutherlin FFA is still "celebrating what's great" after the 2009 Douglas County Fair. Sutherlin was one of the six Douglas County FFA chapters who participated and competed in various areas of this year's fair, ranging from the traditional livestock shows to public presentations. A summary of achievements is below.
- Ross Grauf was champion FFA dairy showman and competed in the FFA Round Robin.
- Adam Powell and Tessa Knight made the advanced champion beef showman round, as well as Reserve Champion Novice Showman Kacie McCracken. Also showing market steers were Austin Powell, Tessa Miller, and Jeb Schumacher. Sutherlin FFA had 6 of the 12 FFA market steers.
- Nicole Ritson was Reserve Champion Beginning FFA Swine Showman. Colleen O'Meara also exhibited in the market hog show.
- Lindsay Needham was second in the crossbred ewe lamb class, and was helped all week in showing and herdsmanship by Chaela Outlaw.
- Lana Chamberlain was Champion in FFA Presentations and Tessa Knight was Reserve. Tessa and Adam both conducted the FFA/4H Awards Presentation on Saturday.
- Sutherlin FFA was first in the newly-revived Chapter Landscape Exhibit. The Sutherlin exhibit, Oakland exhibit, and Glide exhibit all looked fantastic in Douglas Hall and earned many compliments. Sutherlin FFA also had the Champion medium-construction project with the sheep show stand built by several FFA members in the ag shop.
- Sutherlin FFA was first in beginning and advanced Dairy Judging. Sixteen Sutherlin FFA members competed in Dairy and Livestock Judging, including Lana Chamberlain, Adam Powell, Austin Powell, Alex Powell, Jerry Risk, Andrew Beattie, Juan Vazquez, Kacie McCracken, Nicole Ritson, Jesilyn Risk, Colleen O'Meara, Lindsay Needham, Chaela Outlaw, Jeb Schumacher, Tessa Miller, and Rozalyn Patrick.
