Friday Night Lanes

bowlingMembers from the FFA chapter had a blast bowling on Friday, January 14th at Ten Down Bowling. Non-business chapter activities like this are for members to hang out with each other and the officers to get to know them better and overall have a great time outside of meetings. To make things more interesting there was the challenge of bowling with your opposite hand. Let's just say that was a gutter ball and only lasted one frame. The officers along with the members had a great time and are looking forward to more chapter activities.

Chapter Bowling

On Friday, January 14th the chapter will be going bowling at Ten Down Bowling in Roseburg. The cost is five dollars per member. If you are interested in going please contact Mr. Crawford and there is also a sign up sheet in the back of the ag room. Don't miss out on all the fun!

Middle School Leadership Challenge

The annual Middle School Leadership Challenge was held on Wednesday December 8th and Thursday December 9th at the Sutherlin Middle School. FFA members put on workshops with all the P.E. classes about leadership, teamwork, communication, and other skills that you learn in the FFA. This is all part of teaching youth leadership and recruiting students to enroll in the FFA and agricultural classes.

Workshops included activities that involed students sitting back to back and attempting to work together and stand up. Students were also challenged to lower a hula-hoop to the ground that mysteriously wanted to float up. The students and FFA members had a great time and are looking forward to next years Leadership Challenge.

FFA State Officers Rock Sutherlin

Bri TanakaJake Erceg and Briana Tanaka, two of the Oregon FFA Association State Officers, visited Sutherlin High School today on their state wide leadership tour. Jake is serving as the Oregon FFA Association State Reporter and is from Phoenix, Oregon. Briana is from Union, Oregon and is serving as the Oregon FFA Association State Secretary. Briana and Jake put on workshops for all the ag classes, talking about how FFA is like a buffet and your plate is your life. You can go to the buffet or join FFA and put whatever you want on your plate or apply FFA however you want to your life. FFA is not limited to farmers, just like how KFC is not limited to fried chicken. All the students had a great time hanging out with Jake and Briana and also learned that we must be bold, and go for the blue and gold!
